I love the simplicity of life and hate the complexity of humanity. Unfortunately, our goals are often tied into the latter instead of the former.
Being a Failure
I love to take responsibility for things. This wasn’t always the case, but the last 5 years or so, it has been. Why? Because people are shocked – astonished – saddened by my brazen acceptance that I fail. Whenever I can make others feel uncomfortable, a little bit more of me becomes a happier person.
I am a failure at a lot of things. I have built a business only to destroy it. I have started multiple lifestyles only to dream of the NEXT-GREATEST-LIFESTYLE. I have seen what it takes to succeed and run the other way. I have failed a lot. However, I keep coming back for more despite the fighting rounds being about 1,000 – 5 in favor of my opponent Failure. That’s what really matters. Being a failure is okay when you keep coming back for more.
Fail…A Lot
Guess what your best learning tool is…FAILING.
Failing is so powerful because it provides the experience needed to succeeding. Everything ever built or tried or experienced came from doing smaller experiments that people failed horribly at, then corrected, and perfected. Failing a lot is essential to growth. It builds character and allows for an individual to experience true happiness once success is reached.
Your Biggest Failure Is…
…not failing ENOUGH.
Often, I fail hundreds of times before I am happy. Just look at this site design. I am actually working on generating a whole new platform. I have spent hundreds of hours on design and have failed miserably time and time again. But, I always continue to strive for success. I pick myself up after failing and get back to accomplishing what will make me happy.
Your New #1 Goal
So, here is your new #1 goal. Start failing. Start failing like no one has ever failed before. Eventually, you will succeed. You just have to start accepting that you won’t succeed right out of the gates and you have to start failing today to succeed tomorrow.

I feel like you have summed up my life with this one post. Thank you for the encouragement.
Even a few minutes ago I was thinking of how I failed to do something the best way I could a few years ago, I was going to write it out, let the lesson stand out.
And feel better that I have at least learned something of value from that failure.
Hey Sarah—
As long as you learn from any and every action you do, it is not a wasted effort.
I have found that some of the best realizations have come when I am at the lowest from an ultimate failure. Picking ourselves up and applying the new knowledge is difficult, but rewarding.
Glad I was able to help you realize some positive from failing!

This is really true. it is nearly impossible to succeed in anything at your first try. So as I read it somewhere: to succeed twice as fast, fail twice as much.
A good example of that is Michael Jordan, who said once:
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career, I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over in my life. And that’s why I succeed!”
Hey Patricia—
I am not a big Jordan fan but that was a good line from him.
The more I fail, the more I find in myself.
Keep failing!
