You are walking down a road.
It is cold, storm clouds are moving in, and you are carrying a backpack. A backpack that is your entire life.
You stop at a gas station to grab a few snacks and the clerk asks, “Where you headed?”
You stop to think for a moment. You realize, you know where you want to end up, but you have no clue how to get there.
You reply, “Well, I know where I want to be, I just don’t really know how to get there.”
The clerk let’s you know that he knows where that place is at and exactly how to get there.
But, there’s a catch…
He provides you with a few details and general directions, but if you want the map – the path – the plan, you need to pay the clerk $15.
What Do You Do?
Would You Pay for the Map
I mention this story because I talk with a lot of people who do and don’t pay for advice or help. Many of them who don’t, eventually find and reach their end goal. However, the people who tend to reach their goals much faster were the one’s who didn’t think twice when the clerk offered help for a nominal fee.
So, what do you do?
From my personal perspective, I try to buy/repay/trade any and all advice and help possible. I don’t know everything and it took some time for others to learn what I want to know so I don’t hesitate when asked to reimburse for such efforts.
What I am trying to say is that I would pay for the map time and time again if I knew it would get me where I wanted to be.
Charging For Advice
A few weeks back, I was talking to Matt Madeiro and he brought up a valid discussion. Paying for advice. His pull was to give away all of his knowledge for free. He was torn because he obviously wanted to help as many people as possible, but felt wrong charging for it.
I brought up the point that we pay for services/advice everyday. We base our use of our money as to the quality and positive effect spending that money will have on our life. He began to come around to the idea that we pay for help and offering help for a nominal fee does not make you the devil.
Proven Path
The reason I brought this up was because today is the day I launch a project I have been working on for some time.
The main goal of this project is to help readers stop wandering aimlessly, as the Life Excursion by-line states, and start taking actionable steps to achieving their goals.
Now, I am not going to go into the details in this post. You can check out the details by clicking here. What I want to do is go back to that story I presented.
I have been able to accomplish so much because I established a path that consisted of tangible action steps that led to a tangible goal. I was able to move to Australia by doing this. I was able to quit my 9-5 by doing this. I was able to get out of and stay out of debt by doing this. It’s a proven path. I always go with the proven path. Do you?
That is what I am offering with Destination X. No matter what your goal or what success or failures you have had in the past, Destination X will help you get on the path to your goal faster and more efficiently. It’s a proven path.
In Your Hands
So, you are at a fork in the road. What are you going to do?
Are you going to pay the clerk for the map? Or are you going to take your chances and blaze a bold new path to your destination?
Either way, you are in for an amazing journey. I just hope Destination X can be your map to get you there.
