Just a short while ago, I was running one of the top minimalist sites, supporting myself financially via my online work and quite content with where I stood. See anything wrong with that? I do. Read the last part again.
Now, I could go on and on as to many of the reasons I decided to step away from TMP, but I don’t want to bore you with the details. I even bored myself with the excuses. About a month after walking away, I think I discovered my true reason for walking away. I became satisfied with mediocre. I was just posting articles to post articles without putting heart and passion behind them. What I was saying still rang true, but what does that really mean when you really aren’t passionate about what you are saying anymore.
I look back and realize the hundreds of mistakes I made along with a few things I did right. What I do know is that my passion was lacking and a new path had to be laid.
The reason I mention this to you today is because you don’t realize how much time and energy you waste on something that you are not completely, 100% passionate about. If you are lacking the passion, then the goal will not be achieved.
Many people would think I am crazy for walking away from something that I was so successful at. Success comes in many shapes and sizes and sometimes success is not about how many readers you have or how much money you make from something. Success, for myself, means I am striving towards something…a goal. Even if I don’t hit specific number goals, as long as I am successful overall in my pursuit and can maintain my passion for my actions then it is all worth it.
I hope you walk away from this article not necessarily quitting your job today. However, I would love to hear that you are taking a step towards acting upon your passions. Because if you are not acting upon your passions, what are your actions necessarily telling of your success.
Schucks...This one is super unique. No similar posts.
