The Bliss of Being Back Home

I know I know. I preach traveling, taking excursions, venturing out all the time. And doing so is definitely what I love about life. Exploring new worlds. But your Life Excursion doesn’t have to just involve leaving the country. Your Life Excursion can be something as simple as choosing a new sport to try out or attempting to enter a career you have always admired from the outside and want to become a part of. Either way, it is always nice to come back to familiarity for a short time.

As I have now been back stateside for about a week, I have been very lucky to be pampered. The conveniences of American lifestyle are once again back in my life. And overall, I have had a great homecoming.

This does not mean by any means that such will be the case in a month when I start life in San Diego. I will get very little sleep as I try to start a cashflow coming in and continue my training. I don’t mind work or working hard, but for a bit it is nice to relax and recover.

While in Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand, I slept on couches, floors, hostel beds, hotel beds (rarely) and within a campervan for a total of about 4 months. Now, I enjoyed the ventures and experiences of such, but sleeping on some random beds (or lack thereof) can really get to a person after a while. So sleeping in a comfortable, homely bed is definitely something I am grateful for once again.

Being that I was in Western culture areas, I usually ate similar foods to that which I ate in the States. But my diet was horrible. Very few veggies and fruits and lots of fatties foods and just a lot of consumption in general. Cooking and consuming foods that I am accustomed to has brought back a balance to my life.

With that said, this should not discourage you or anyone from traveling or venturing to start anew anywhere. If I was staying in my own place and had a lifestyle that was of a normal individual, I may have accustomed much better. I would have been able to feel half way healthy and still enjoy my time abroad.

I suggest taking excursions in parts. If you are looking to venture for a few weeks, then just travel with no thought towards being comfortable because the less comfortable you are, the more likely you are experiencing the lifestyle of the culture. If you are traveling for a year or longer, you may want to think about settling in a certain place for a few months just to be able to enjoy that lifestyle more. There are places that rent for weeks to months to years if you just look around.

I sit here with unlimited internet access, a fridge full of fruit and other healthy foods and A/C sitting on 62 degrees F. Now this may be a lifestyle that is too comfortable, but it is definitely a lifestyle to appreciate while recovering from the physical toll of taking LifeExcursions. So next time you take an excursion to a far off land, make sure to factor your lifestyle and length of travel. Because after 2 months of bush-walking, you may want to schedule some time of basic luxuries. Everyone should spoil themselves a bit. I know I am.

Schucks...This one is super unique. No similar posts.
