For many people, the toughest part of the day is when that alarm rings in the morning. Obviously, this shouldn’t be and does not promote the LifeExcursion way of Living Life to the Max. For some, it is the fact that they have to head to a job they dislike and for others it is that they did not hit the proverbial hay early enough the night before. Either way, the morning is a great place to implement simplifying tactics to increase the productivity and enjoyment of the beginning of another beautiful day.
The morning is the most important part of your day. The argument for this is that the morning is a good indicator for how the rest of the day will go. The food you intake, the grooming practices, the stress and many more of that which is done in the morning affects how your interactions, productivity and mood. In other words, focusing on your morning routine will lead to an overall better day.
Life can be difficult at times. Some mornings are just not going to go smoothly and trying to do so will make them even more frustrating. However, most mornings can brighten your entire day by implementing simple routines.
The following are ways that you too can simplify your morning and start your day off right…
- Enjoy a Healthy Starter Smoothie
- Write a 3 point list of things you want to accomplish for the day
- Take 5 minutes in a peaceful spot and just breathe
- Do not use any electronics for the first 45 minutes you are awake
- Try not to take on too many commitments for the rest of your day
- Schedule your day with something you want to do
- Read a book for 10 minutes
- Do a 15 minute at home workout
- Play with your kids for 15 minutes
These are just a few of the thousands of ideas you can implement into your morning routine to make your day start off better. I suggest implementing one or two every week to see what fits best. Also, you should check out some other posts that have great early riser suggestions….here…here…and here.

Lately I have had more and more problems to get out of bed in the morning and I have very bad day starts. I’ll try implementing some of your advice and see how it goes.
You’re absolutely right – how your morning goes, so goes your day. I am an early riser (5:00 – 5:30) and the morning is the most productive time of the day for me. In order to make my mornings stress-free, I organize the night before. I lay out my running or training gear in a neat pile, I have my breakfast and lunch prepped, I make sure my home is clean before I go to bed. That way, the morning routine is seamless and I’m not running around in a disorganized manner all morning. This certainly sets the tone for the remainder of my day.
What a powerful practice that so many people do not do. The impact is hidden until you really discipline yourself to get up early enough to accomplish any one of those tips. I’ve been getting enough sleep to actually get up and do a 10-15 minute reading session/quite time and it’s such a powerful way to start the day. So I wanted to chime in for that, I in part found the time because I’m all the sudden addicted to this egg cooking trick I do with boiling my omelet in a bag…while thats going I have a clear 10-15 to read!

Any day in which I avoid using electronics for the first hour I’m awake always ends up being far more productive! There’s something about checking email right after waking up that always seems to get things off to a stressful start.
I loved the title: Simplify Your Morning. But when I don’t sleep enough hours, I am ZERO. And then I first need a shower and some refreshing fruit. After I moved a littel I am in the day. But I am now saying something against what the title says. Most people get up and go. There is nothing more simple than that. I would say that people should do more to function better and all this you do mention: workout, good breakfast, take time for what is really important (life-partner, children!).
