Questions to Ask

Questions to Ask

Not knowing the questions to ask tends to lead to the situation you find yourself.

You know what I am talking about. Unhappy. Unfulfilled. Unsatisfied. Settled. Debt-ridden. Disappointed.

Now, I hope none of those words describe you, but if they do, you’re not alone. I fall to these feelings and situations myself. However, I don’t stay there long. How do I limit the time in life that are negative? I ask the honest and necessary questions to propel myself to success.

What Questions Are You Asking Yourself

Lying to yourself is easy. Living a lie is horrible. Being honest with yourself is freeing. What path do you choose and why do you choose it?

Often, I talk to people who are lost. Sure, they have a job, pay their bills, accumulate debt and drink (lots), but they usually are going nowhere fast. Being lost can suck and they know it, they just don’t want to face it. So, being the caring-but-direct individual that I am, I play a game with them. Here’s how it goes…

This game has never failed me. I have always been able to move past the fluff and get to the meat of 1) the problems & 2) the solutions. The fluff are our excuses and they rarely have any basis for existence. There are too many people in the world with real excuses (i.e. Japanese quake/tsunami/nuclear reactor catastrophe) for me to be giving lame excuses. Thankfully, this game never lets me down.

Now, I started this section with the title What Questions Are You Asking Yourself. The reason for doing so is because we rarely ask ourselves the honest questions we should be even though we think we are.

For example, a few weeks back, I was having a few drinks with an old friend and we started discussing why he was starting a shitty job he didn’t want when he wanted to be sailing. I, obviously, went to the bread-and-butter, the Let’s-Be-Honest game. Within 15 minutes, my friend had moved past his excuses and started asking what action steps he could take to further his small progress towards his major goal. His major hurdle was not only the fluff, but the fact that he had no idea what questions he needed to be asking of himself.

The game is merely a way to move on from negativity and onward to action.

Let’s turn the tables now. Ask yourself what questions you are asking of yourself? Are they mundane questions that get you nowhere? Are they questions like, “Why is everyone against me,” or are they, ” What 1 hour action step every day can I take to improve my life?” Hopefully, it’s going to be the latter going forward.

I Don’t Know What Questions to Ask

With Destination X coming out extremely soon (see info below), I was pumped to see that I am on the same wave-length as another person I greatly admire. That person being Corbett Barr.

Barr runs the wildly successful site ThinkTraffic as well as his self-titled website. Recently, he launched a FREE workbook called The Ultimate Business Plan Workbook for Bloggers. Now, it is primarily for bloggers, but the questions involved can be applied to any and all types of goals. Replace a few of the words directly addressing blogging and insert words attaining to your goal and you will find that his questions are a well-built Let’s-Be-Honest game platform.

I highly suggest you check out his questionnaire and if you hate the questions and think it’s pointless, you can just remove yourself from his email list. Pretty much, you can’t lose anything and you can gain incredible insight into your own thoughts and approach for free.
