Power of Collaboration

Rarely have I completed a self-fulfilling goal without the help of others. Whether it be friends letting me crash on their couch the month prior to moving to Australia or my fiancée giving me the support to follow my dreams, I have been able to achieve a lot in my life through the collaboration in effort and focus with others.

The reason I started thinking about the power of collaboration was because of my new project Ongoing Convo which launches today.  This project would have never launched had it not been for the great work provided by Jenny Leonard, Courtney Carver, Joel Runyon, and Dusti Arab.  Collaboration is what made this faint dream a reality and you should be taking advantage of this opportunity as often as possible.

How I Made Collaboration Work

When I first came up with the concept for OngoingConvo, I knew I wanted nothing to do with it. By that I mean, I wanted to be behind the scenes and allow others to voice their opinions on one specific question. Hopefully, I can remain the producer and provider of such great thoughts of others and simply comment on their ideas.

As this idea started to become a reality, I realized that the worst that would happen is others would think this was a waste of time and not contribute nor read. What I also knew was that if the people I was asking to contribute thought this was a wonderful idea, their readers would also enjoy. This led to one conclusion: I had to put all of the content in the hands of the contributors.

Collaboration works because others feel a tie to a thought. I knew that by giving the voice to only those contributing, they would be able to feel empowered by the opportunity to share their thoughts alongside admired others. Often, our thoughts can be buried, overlooked, under-praised on our own sites. But, when you put conflicting & inspiring thoughts in one area, the collaboration breathes multiple perspectives without aimlessly wandering through millions of blogs.

I am Better Because of Collaboration

Before I started this project, I wondered how many people would want to be involved. I knew the smaller bloggers may be interested, but would the people with more well-known voices reach out as well.

Needless to say, I was pumped to hear back from the few people I asked to contribute to launch week. Not only that, they loved the idea. My fingers are crossed that OngoingConvo becomes a platform for collaboration. Through this collaboration, I am becoming a better human being.

We all differ in physical traits and mental states. I have differing thoughts then most and I love that. Thankfully, I have given myself the opportunity to work with others that can show me a different way to see life and the approach we take. Collaboration feeds my growth and development.

If You Aren’t, You Should Be

If you have never collaborated in something you are passionate about, you do not know how much you are missing out on.

Collaboration can make you realize something that you were blind to that was right in front of you.

Through working with others, passion will push you to become an even better whatever you want or can be.

If you have any doubt about the possibilities that come from collaboration, watch the growth that comes over the next few months of OngoingConvo. You will see the potential in whatever it is you do.

Collaboration is a very powerful tool. It’s good to see someone “taking the bull by the horns” this way in terms of working together.
