Morning Meal…


I am headed this morning down the street to Waikiki to find some glorious Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Though I have no idea where they will be, I am sure I will sniff them out.

I say this because I am headed out on an excursion to North Shore later this morning. Going to snorkel and explore that side of the island and be on the go. And the best way to enjoy an excursion filled day is to make sure and have a great breakfast. The better breakfast you eat, the more energy you will have during the day and it will, in most cases, suppress the urge to binge later. Of all meals, breakfast is the only one that completely breaks down by the end of the day so it is usually best to eat a filling (not overloading) breakfast.

Now this doesn’t mean grabbing 3 breakfast burritos and a side of hashbrowns to “make sure you have enough energy”. What this means is to eat a fulfilling breakfast that has portions of carbs, proteins, and healthy fats along with fluids.

An example would be a piece of toast, 1/2 a banana, egg, a small amount of fat free yogurt, and a glass of OJ. This meal can be prepared in under 5 minutes and meets all criteria for a healthy breakfast. This is just one of millions of breakfast meals you can make in very little time.
Try to make an effort for the next 2 weeks to eat a good breakfast. Everyone claims, “I don’t have enough time for breakfast in the morning.” Well, go to bed five minutes earlier and get up 5 minutes earlier. It’s really not that hard and the benefits outweigh the loss of 1 less sleep-button taps.
