Just Get Up

Being that this is one of my first fitness blogs, I will keep it simple. The first and biggest factor for not being fit or for being overweight is sedentary. Just plain and simple. If you just get up and do anything, you will burn more calories than constantly sitting in front of the computer or television. Simple as that.

It can be tough to get going when there is so much entertainment available without getting up. My bad habit is laying on the bed or couch and googling, writing, watching everything on the internet. In the next few days, I will be back on a healthy lifestyle. Recently, however, I have been as sedentary as I have ever been. I just haven’t been able to get into the same mindsight as when I had a 9-5 and was training multiple times a day. I only have myself to blame for my current status, but I know in the near future I will be back on track. I have to just get up.

Life is too short and filled with too many opportunities to waste it sitting around. I know all the excuses as I have used them before. I don’t think people who are sedentary want to be such, but the motivation is lacking. If doors are opened and opportunities are there, they need to be taken advantage of. Just getting up and doing so is half the battle. Once you see the chances to enjoy life are simple, free, and beneficial, I think you may make leaps and bounds as an individual.

The following is a motivational list of things to just get up and do:

Just get up and …

  • Cook a healthy dinner. Go to the store, get some veggies, chicken breasts and fruit and cook up a glorious dish.
  • Take a walk. When was the last time you actually saw your neighborhood? Take a walk around and enjoy the area you live.
  • Go to the gym. This is the obvious one. Make a trip to the gym and earn your relaxation time.
  • Join a team or group. Most cities have a Park and Recreation group and there are endless numbers of organizations and groups that do lots of fun and cheap activities.
  • Clean and Organize. For 15 minutes (or more) go around cleaning your home. Organize one small section at a time and soon enough
  • Stretch. It sounds simple. But it can be tough depending on your sedentary level.
  • Take your dog for a walk. That pup of yours will love you for getting them some exercise.
  • Go to the park. There are a million things to do at a park. Try one of them.

There are so many more ideas, but hopefully this gets you going. The sooner you start, the easier it will be in the long run.
