What a powerful practice that so many people do not do. The impact is hidden until you really discipline yourself to get up early enough to accomplish any one of those tips. I've been getting enough sleep to actually get up and do a 10-15 minute reading session/quite time and it's such a powerful way to start the day. So I wanted to chime in for that, I in part found the time because I'm all the sudden addicted to this egg cooking trick I do with boiling my omelet in a bag...while thats going I have a clear 10-15 to read!

You're absolutely right - how your morning goes, so goes your day. I am an early riser (5:00 - 5:30) and the morning is the most productive time of the day for me. In order to make my mornings stress-free, I organize the night before. I lay out my running or training gear in a neat pile, I have my breakfast and lunch prepped, I make sure my home is clean before I go to bed. That way, the morning routine is seamless and I'm not running around in a disorganized manner all morning. This certainly sets the tone for the remainder of my day.

Lately I have had more and more problems to get out of bed in the morning and I have very bad day starts. I'll try implementing some of your advice and see how it goes.

David, you are so right about traveling. Even though I have not been out of North America like you, I have done much more traveling than most Americans. When Katrina hit New Orleans I helped raise money for the Red Cross. A year later that was not enough and I decided to go there and put some of my carpentry skills to use. It was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I was a Boy Scout and coached many sports over the last 40+ yrs. Nothing compared to how much fun I had helping others in need.

So I suggest to people that they do like you did when you went to Australia the first time. Work during part of your excursion, It will make your time away from home that much better. Best of all my total trip (air, boarding and food) was under $500!!! Tax deductible too.

Last week people at work asked me if I was going to Haiti or Chile also. That trip changed my life and how people look at me.

I am definitely going to try to get my hands on a blender. (I'm in college, so I lack most of the basic kitchen appliances and tools.

I love fruit smoothies so much, and this recipe looks delicious!

This is an interesting article. When I went to live in Valencia, Spain for a summer, I brought 2 huge suitcases. I didn't wear the contents of (the equivalent of) one suitcase. It made me rethink packing and now packing is not a two-day nightmare or an all-nighter, but an hour's worth of thoughtful planning for my destination.

Isn't lifestyle design whatever you design your life to be? Whether it's a traditional job, or traveling around that's the lifestyle you've designed for yourself.

I just wonder for those in their 20's who after 5 years of traveling and going the untraditional route, is the plan to do an MBA or something and get back into tradition?
