What is Difficult

I have this astonishing secret that I want to share with you. I know. It is kind of crazy that I want to share such a huge secret with you, but such is the case. I want to make your life better in whatever way possible. This is only one of the many to come, but may just be the most significant. Are you ready? Here it is…

The only thing holding you back is YOU!

Now, that may seem a bit harsh, but, honestly, it is the case. It is the same thing that kept me from excelling at my dreams for years on end. Luckily, I found my path sooner than later. Looking back, the only person that kept me from doing amazing things was…ME!

Oh So Close

You may not realize it yet, but you are extremely close to excelling at your dreams. In fact, everyone who isn’t living their dream life is on the cliff’s edge of living their dreams. The only thing keeping them from success is taking the plunge into the clear blue water below.

I never realized how close I was to completing my dreams until I finally just said, “F*** It! I am tired. Time to start doing everything I can to live the life I want.”

Here’s the thing. That action didn’t cost a million bucks nor did it make me quit my job on the spot. It was an approach – an outlook – a commitment. Once one takes the power out of the hands of others, the freedom that exists is astounding.

I did it. There’s no reason you can’t either.

The Ladies Edition

Last week, we noted The Gentlemen doing big things. Well, rightfully so, I take today to mention the ladies I admire and look to for inspiration. The following list may be shorter than the Gentlemen’s list, but it is no less powerful. If anything, the Ladies get to the point a lot better than the Gentlemen.

As with last week, I am going to give away a $10 Amazon gift card to a random reader who does one of the following in the comments section below:

  • Provide an example of how one of the following bloggers has helped changed your life. (Provide a concrete example)
  • Mention a different blogger who has helped change your life. (Provide a concrete example)

Simple as that. You provide some motivation to others and I, if your are the selected one, provide you with a $10 Amazon Gift Card.

Enough with the offers….On to The Gentlemen providing inadvertent life altering advice…

*** An Aside: The reason for the title including ‘Inadvertent’ is because I did not contact these bright gentlemen prior to posting this article. This is pure faith in what they do. Enjoy! ***

Courtney Carver Be More With Less

Inadvertent Life Altering Advice: If you are overwhelmed, burnt out, uninspired and just really damn tired, make a change, today.

Impact: Through the last 6 or so months, I feel like Courtney and I have connected simply because we view life as a project. Courtney is extremely good at deciding what is a problem in her life and making the proper change. And although the line I mentioned from Carver is short and sweet, it is EXTREMELY powerful. If (A) is causing you to be depressed, angered, or frustrated, then start doing (B) to change (A). Seems so simple, but we often beat around the bush only to make our lives more unfulfilled. Take Courtney’s advice and be direct in your action. You will thank her once you see how simple change is.

Tammy Strobel Rowdy Kittens

Inadvertent Life Altering Advice: In the end, I think it’s about questioning what is “enough” and what we really “need” to be happy and healthy.

Impact: I like to copy what happy people do. The more satisfied someone is with their life, the more likely I am to be following in their footsteps. Tammy is a happy person. Thus, I mimic a lot of what she does. Not too live her life, but to implement the same strategies she has found to be successful. The debate or what we “need” is one I try to bring to light whenever any and everyone comes to me with a problem regarding finances or restraints. The line above is the concise way of asking the question we often avoid, “Do I need (THIS)? Often, our avoidance of such a question not only complicates our physical life, but the opportunities that we could actually afford ourselves. If life is what one wants, addressing one’s needs is the pivotal point of success and failure.

Kristy Powell One Dress Protest

Inadvertent Life Altering Advice: Courage allows us to actually make the change in our lives to live with less, to protest what is normal in our culture.

Impact: Kristy is a newbie blogger who has made some big news by starting her one-dress-protest. In the line I provided from one of her earlier articles, I believe courage and change are intertwined. For change to occur, we must have courage to take the actions to do so. While when courage occurs, change is obviously evident. Re-read her line once more and see how you approach the two. Maybe if we acknowledge the existence and power of both, we can make them a positive impact upon our lives and eliminate the fear from within.

Jenny Leonard Where is Jenny

Inadvertent Life Altering Advice: What is it you dream of doing when you’re doing something you hate? That’s what you should go do.

Impact: Yeah, Yeah. I know you have heard this one before. However, it is true. As with the other ladies mentioned here, the answer is simple. You just aren’t asking the most direct question possible. Jenny has been doing the things she loves for quite some time now. Yes, it is possible. Yes, it is difficult. But it is all worth it when you are doing what you love. Stop clouding your vision. No one else is stopping you from seeing the goal clearly and running the straight line to it. You are the one throwing obstacles in the way. Stop blaming others and start following in the footsteps of Leonard. Simple as that.

A one-two punch: Tammy Strobel’s RowdyKittens was the first blog I ever loved/subscribed to, and it inspired me to start my own.
Courtney Carver’s Be More with Less gave me my first guest post, and allowed me to meet a bunch of wonderful readers in the process.
A different female blogger who has helped to change my life: Miss Minimalist, Francine Jay. Her book and blog led me to greater space in my tiny studio apartment, and additional freedom in my schedule to do what I love!
