Half the Battle

Your excursion through life is all in your hands.

I know, I am sure you have heard this a million times. However, this is 100% the truth. It’s a matter of acting and not just wishing and dreaming that leads to the lifestyle you want.

Now, I could sit here and tell you that you need to go read Tim Ferris’ Four Hour Work Week and I could tell you that if you aren’t living exactly like Karol or Everett then you won’t succeed in life. The thing is you should not live anything like them. You should live anything like me. And you should definitely not live like those that are depressed day in and day out in their lives. What you should do is start observing and applying in whatever fashion works for you.

Do I live similarly to many of the lifestyle designers that I am sure you read as well? I try, but I also know that they desires are a lot different than my own. I am not the biggest yoga fan so I would be following in the footsteps of Everett Bogue as he has become an avid yoga enthusiast. The same goes for you. Everything at LifeExcursion is just my perspective which doesn’t include many of the factors that you have in your life.

So, what does this mean?

This means that you need to start thinking (preferably writing it down as well) about your goals and aspirations. Sure, we would all love to win the lottery, but let’s start thinking about the actions we can take to change our lives. I can’t control the lottery, but I can control whether I want to be a minimalist or a world traveler.

So today, just start with analyzing what you could change to better your life. It is quite simple. You just need to take into consideration one thing you hate about your life right now and jot down a few steps to correct this.

If you want to change your life, you have to see what’s wrong with it currently.

    Hey Dave,

I am so excited to see that you are writing at Life Excursion again!

You are so right. Lifestyle Design is an amazing concept but it’s so important that we keep OURSELVES in mind as we design our lives. Not everyone is going to be Amber Zuckswert, Chris Guillebeau, or Cody McKibben. Each person’s lifestyle design will be different and reflective of the individual undertaking his or her own life adventure.

It’s important that we always keep in mind–our adventure is our own, unique in its own ways. We should embrace our strengths and weaknesses. And not try to be somebody else. In the end it will take us further.

    –D.

      Hey Dena—

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Great thoughts that I completely agree with.

Have a good rest of your week….
