Goal Seekers Series: Most Tangible Goal Ever

Goal Seekers Series: Most Tangible Goal Ever

(This is part 3 in a 3 part series (part 1 –  part 2) this week detailing those who have or soon will be accomplishing their amazing goals. This series leads up tothe launch of Destination X on April 18th, 2011)

_____________

How Lazy Are You

This question hit me the other day when I started thinking about the laziness that creeps up every now and then.

What could I achieve if I removed 95% of the lazy moments of my life?

Am I saying my life consists of complete laziness? Hell no. I work at my desk job for 8 hours Monday through Friday and proceed to work anywhere between 4-8 hours per night on building a business. Trust me, I am not bragging. I would definitely rather be working 4 hours per week.

What I am trying to say is that there are moments in my life that I could be taking better advantage of.

When I think of the successful people I follow, there is a common denominator between most of them. They all are highly productive with their time. They take full advantage of their opportunity to create more during their time.

How BIG Are Your Goals

With the launch of Destination X Monday (continue reading for more), I look back at when I have exceeded my expectations in the business world. The common denominator has always been the same common denominator as mentioned earlier…highly productive action.

One of the ways I achieve large feats in my life is by establishing BIG goals. For example, I moved to Australia and it took a good 6 months of pure dedication to make that a reality.

Would I recommend you establish a major goal and head straight for it? Definitely. However, I wasn’t able to move to Australia by establishing this major goal. I was able to move to Australia because I set tangible goals that built up to the move.

To say achieving BIG goals is easy would be a lie. It isn’t. However, there is a huge difference between those who succeed and those who fail. Those who succeed have a path and those who fail wander aimlessly.

If I were to give the goal of reaching a specific destination, let’s call X, you could do two things. You could be like the general perception of man and blaze your own trail which may, at some point, reach X, but will take significantly longer and could lead to your death by accidentally walking off a cliff. The alternative is to pay the $15 bucks for the map and get to X a hell of a lot faster because you now have a path. And that’s where the difference between successful people comes into play. The successful people establish a path or pay the measly $15 for it so they can get to where they want to be a lot faster than the random dude wandering through the brush.

If you so decide to get a copy of Destination X Monday April 18th, you will see how I lay out the path to my own success. Sure, it may start with a BIG tangible goal in the back of my head, but I diligently establish a path that makes failing impossible. That is what you MUST do. Make failing impossible.

The Most Tangible Goal Ever: Walking Across America

A few months back, I started reading the story about a young man setting up a journey to walk across the United States. Yes, fricken’ WALKING across the U.S. of A. This man is Nate Damm of NateWalksAmerica. Needless to say, my interest was peaked by such an endeavor.

Let me explain why this is such a powerful goal to me:

  1. The goal is extremely tangible. Walking 3,000+ miles is physical and calculable. To think that each step is one step closer to a goal is completely literal here. The best way for you to succeed at your goal is to do this exact same thing only applied in the terms of your goal. Make the goal super-tangible and you will succeed.
  2. It’s presented. There is no getting away with this one. Sure, he could jump on a plane or a car or a bus or even a bike and make the trek easier. However, you can see the honesty in what he is doing through the videos and the interaction that he finds with people along the journey. This keep him accountable. Could this walk be an elaborate trick. Most definitely. However, if we thought someone would go to this much hassle as a joke, they would be trying to make a lot more money at it.
  3. The goal has a positive approach. Nate has been extremely positive throughout the walk so far. He has an open mind and an end goal. Everything in between is a matter of establishing a path, figuratively and literally, and taking it. Having the positivity mentality prevents failure. If you doubt it, try to be 100% positive on your next goal and let me know if it doesn’t help you succeed.

Nate’s journey emulates what Destination X is all about. That is why I have decided to give Nate ALL profits earned (after affiliate commissions and 10% to Lisa of Ideastylist). Yes, I am giving away everything I have worked for. However, I am doing it because I believe in Nate’s journey. I know how difficult it is and how important it is to have support from others. Through my readers, I will be given the opportunity to help him succeed.

This Goal Seeker Series was meant to help you see that anything is possible. Whether it is simplifying your life, quitting the 9-5, or walking across america, it is all possible. All you have to do is establish a path.
